Cabinets

May 19, 2020

Whether you are considering building or remodeling, cabinets will always be a big topic with a big price tag in your budget. There are so many options when it comes to cabinets that it can cause the decision process to be an overwhelming one. Here is some advice from our experts to help you navigate through the decision-making process.

To get started, you need to ask yourself a few questions:

  • What is my expectation of performance and longevity?
  • How much am I willing to spend to get what I want?
  • How long do I plan to stay here?
  • How badly do you want your cabinets to fit your specific needs?

Answering these questions and a few others will help guide you down the path of finding the cabinet that fits your needs.

There are many types, styles, and grades of cabinets on the market. They range from imported European cabinets to off-the-rack big box store builder grade. A mix of budget and quality are driving factors in making this decision.

European cabinets that are built overseas and imported to your location are some of the finest available. These will come at a premium price and are well above the average budget for most projects. If budget is less of an issue, these cabinets will give that astonishing unique look not commonly seen in most homes.

Custom-builds are made locally and are a great way to get good quality cabinets at a fraction of the cost. We highly recommend this choice for a multitude of reasons. These cabinets are designed and built by a local craftsman in their shop. It adds ease and convenience to be a part of the process of the design phase. Going custom and local is a more cost-efficient avenue than ordering a higher premium product and the quality will be first class.

Semi-custom cabinets are generally built in the US or China. These types of cabinets can range from higher quality to lower quality. There are many options available. However, not one manufacture will offer everything that is out there. These types of cabinets will come in set lengths or can be sized within an inch. If your cabinets require a specific length, you might have to go shorter and add filler strips on either side. Semi-custom cabinets are in demand due to the, typically, smaller price tag than the custom builds.
